Peter Senese: Review of “Somewhere In Brooklyn”

Your browser may not support display of this image.A most enjoyable journey into Brooklyn . . . , May 27, 2006

A year ago I met author J.K. Savoy at a street fair on Atlantic Avenue in wonderul, beautiful Brooklyn. Savoy was selling his newly published book 'Somewhere in Brooklyn', and, coming back into Town from Los Angeles, I decided to chat up the author, and of course, purchase his book.

Reading this neatly crafted story of fiction meets fact, I found myself, a Brooklyn-born lover of life, relating to many of the odyssesys Savoy has written about. What I enjoyed most, and I think anyone who loves Brooklyn can relate to is that Savoy's style of writing gave birth to a breathing, living place many of us love. Stylistically, the character development was strong, the dialogue moving, and the settings beautiful. Overall, this is an enlightening story of a person coming of age . . . and the setting could not have been better. J.K., nicely done

Tom C., A reviewer says of
Somewhere In Brooklyn”

Savoy's characters come to life in the dredges of the drug-filled streets of the city. His poignant tale of drugs, sex and violence along a road of despair, alerts the reader to the fact that the experiences encountered in this tale can happen to even the most monetarily successful people in life. A sobering read.
